Instagram will ruin your Home feed, so chronological options are back

Amid all the action on the show flooring at CES 2022, Instagram is quietly announcing the return of the much-missed chronologically-ordered feed.

The Head of Instagram (at Meta, obviously) Adam Mosseri said the company is testing three new feed options, with a view to rolling them out subsequently this twelvemonth. Mosseri said the changes volition aid ensure "people feel skilful about the fourth dimension they spend in the app."

First of the 3 options is Home, which will feature the algorimically collated content based on what Instagram thinks you'll like. This is the electric current option and will remain ordered in gild of perceived importance, rather than fourth dimension posted.

However, there's a large caveat to that. Mosseri said more and more Home content volition be "recommended" in the future, rather than from accounts y'all follow. You've probably noticed this is happening already because it's getting chronic as it is.

The next feed will exist called Favourites, which will enable users to specify a list of accounts that they actually desire to see every postal service from. This content will exist bundled in chronological order. That'll exist a relief to many users who just prefer to see the new posts first.

The final one is Following, which is a chronological feed from accounts you follow. No recommended content here, aside from the ads the company is certain to alluvion information technology with.
